As a fan of the Honda Africa Twin, I was excited to hear about the updates to the 2022 lineup. The standard model and Adventure Sports ES are both returning, with DCT options available for both. Honda has updated the DCT programming on these models, and is focusing on improving the shifting in lower gears.
I’m particularly interested in the Adventure Sports ES, which gets a lower windscreen for better visibility and an optional taller screen for more wind protection. This refinement of the windscreen’s shape also results in more wind protection overall. The standard Africa Twin also gets the rear cargo platform previously exclusive to the Adventure Sports ES, making it more practical for carrying cargo.
Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and more
Another great addition is the availability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all four Africa Twin models, which can be connected via cable or Bluetooth. This allows for easy integration of your smartphone, making it easier to access your music, maps, and other apps while riding.
The only downside is the price increase across the lineup, which may be a turn-off for some buyers. Additionally, the color options are somewhat limited, with the standard Africa Twin only available in Grand Prix Red and the Adventure Sports ES models only available in Pearl White.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I’m still looking forward to getting my hands on the 2022 Honda Africa Twin. Its improved DCT performance and added practicality make it an even more appealing option in the adventure motorcycle market. I can’t wait to take it out on the road and see how it performs.
